Did
you know, there are three FAFSA deadlines?
Me, well yes! Why because I filed for financial aid every year in junior
college, at the CSU and then when I went for my graduate degree. Therefore, I have plenty of years of filing a
FAFSA to know there will always be deadlines.
Nevertheless, do not fear with the help of the Federal Student Aid
website and the Department of Education website we have those dates right here
for you.
There
is three deadline date to be aware of:
1. The College Deadline
· At CSUCI student should file a 2018-2019 Free Application for
Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act application on or
before Friday, March 2, 2018, to get priority status.
· At CSUCI students should also be aware of the May 31, 2018, priority
financial aid document deadline. Please
refer to your "To Do" list on the CI Records pages your myCI page for
documents that must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office no later than the
May 31, 2018, priority document deadline date.
· Further information available at
https://www.csuci.edu/admissions/freshman/admitted/index.htm
2. The State Deadline
· In California, the sate deadline is March 2, 2018 (date
postmarked). With respect to the Cal
Grant, this also requires the submission of a school-certified GPA by March 2,
2018.
· For further information refer to the California Student Aid Commission
web page: http://www.csac.ca.gov/
3. The Federal Deadline
· The U.S. Department of Education FAFSA deadline for the 2018-2019
academic year is June 30, 2019.
Therefore,
the moral of the story is if you have not filed file ASAP!
Each
deadline means a different thing, so if you are not sure just ask someone. Contact the Financial Aid Office at CSUCI via
email at financial.aid@csuci.edu or you can contact me via email at
cynthia.county@csuci.edu and I can steer you in the right direction.
Until
next time.
